Contractor Websites That Generate Leads Have A Content Marketing Strategy....
Content marketing can be used to increase the online sales of any business including contractor websites. I often get the question "how big should I build my website?"
The key to content marketing is not how many pages you have, but that you have the right pages.
I want you to know how easy this strategy can be implemented. So, I have come up with a great budget-friendly example of a solid web page structure to begin marketing your contracting business online and create a quality, lead generating 60 page website in less than a year.
Stop Worrying About What It Looks Like, Google Really Doesn't Care......
Don't worry about making a huge splash and making a 12, 20 or 50 page website. It takes time to get your website built. Forget about all that fancy flash technology and thousands of dollars of design work.
Rather than spend all that money up front, focus on building quality content on the site. I lay out a structure below that you can easily implement. With this structure, you can hire a content strategist to write a blog per week for the next 52 weeks. If you do this process and the 5 pages I suggest below, you will have close to a 60 page site by 1 year from today.
This is a structure you can build yourself with a FREE template like Google Sites or even a structure you use when you go to your web designer.
FOCUS ON THE CONTENT OF YOUR WEBSITE!
This is a plan I put together and used for a my family electrical contracting company and began building from there. I started with 5 indexed pages (see why indexed pages are important here) and over the past year have built the website up to 450 Google indexed pages.
The more indexed pages you have, the more traffic you will bring to your website.
When I had 5 pages, I had 0 traffic.
With 450 indexed pages, I had 2,700 visitors just last month.
This structure works for any size business. The key to the entire structure is building your blog. That is how my site went to 450 indexed pates. In fact IF you do nothing else, make sure you build a blog. I will show you why here.
A Blueprint For A 5 Page Content Marketing Website
The following describes how the marketing strategy was applied to each page, individually. These are not the only strategies we applied. They are just the main structure and the starting point for each of the five web pages to help you get started.
Purpose: This page is used to introduce the company brand and you're services.
Content Marketing: Links to other online content pages. Includes social media widgets (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube). Links to the other four pages of the site, and useful articles and posts on the company's blog.
Purpose: This page goes into depth about the company's history, the skills, qualifications and certifications.
Content Marketing: Great page for gaining quality backlinks because they have numerous recognized certifications and memberships. IE, as a Better Business Bureau member, you would link to the local BBB chapter, which links back to them as a local member of the chapter. This would also be applied to the local Chamber of Commerce or other professional organizations.
Purpose: Give your online visitors options on how to contact you.
Content Marketing: Best for applying interactive content applications. Provide a physical company address, phone numbers and email addresses. Provides all social networking information to interact with them online. There are also two forms visitors can complete:
General form for inquiries.
Consent (opt-in/opt-out) for customers to be added to client's mailing list. They check off services they may be interested in getting more informative content about.
Purpose: Showcase your contracting services.
Content Marketing: This is a great place to ask suppliers to backlink to your site. These pages contain informative information about the product or service. In turn, they link back to the client's product page as a local retailer in that area.
Purpose: Provide quality, relevant content that can help your customers solve their problems and answer their questions. You become a trusted resource for getting help in the area of your expertise.
Content Marketing: Use you're company's blog page as the number one online content tool. If you want to build your website, you will have to add to your blog. You will need to insist that they post at least one relevant article per week. These articles need to always be more informative and related to problems their customers might be experiencing.

Building a website that generates leads takes time. This strategy is not for everyone, but you can do it. A content marketing strategy is not just a plan for your home page or landing pages. Your strategy should be applied to each page of your website. Even though each individual page should have a specific focus, they should all have one common goal. That is to provide interactive content that will bring visitors to your site.
By providing valuable, interactive content, you increase the chances of these visitors revisiting your site, sharing your content with other online users, and eventually, making a purchase on your website.
