Profitable Blogging For Beginners: How I Wrote a $9,900 Blog Post

Why should I blog?

I get this question often.  People think that blogging is a waste of time.  The only way a blog is a waste of time is if you are not doing it properly. 

According to Hubspot:

Of Companies that blog;
  • 55% more website visitors

  • They get 97% more inbound links

  • They get 434% more indexed pages

Those are impressive numbers.  Even if you don't understand Internet marketing, it is clear that blogging companies outperform those who don't blog on a regular basis.

Yes, blogging does take time. 

How much is your time worth? 

Is it worth $100 per hour, or $50 per hour?

Would it be worth it if you could make over $1000 per hour blogging? 

I can live with that. What about more...is it possible?

I recently acquired a customer from a blog. Actually it was my very first blog that I wrote.  This customer is a large manufacturing organization who has a need for the ser

vices that we have to offer.

The first proposal that I generated for this client was over $34,000.

With a gross margin of 30%(before overhead costs) that customer, with this one job will add $10,200 in additional gross margin to my company.

I estimate based on my time that cost approximately $300 to create the blog post that attracted this customer.

Therefore I spent $300 to gain $10,200 in additional gross margin or a gain of $9,900.

My return on investment from this one blog this 3400%!

I took me about 3 hours to create the blog. 

$9,900 / 3 = $3,300 per hour. 

Even better than the $1000 per hour I was shooting for!!

That only calculates my return from one project. If this customer becomes a long-term customer, what is the value over time?
