continued........So what does a smell that we couldn't find that required the Fire Department have to do with content marketing strategy?

Most websites stink!Does-your-website-stink-?

I would be willing to bet that your website stinks.

How do I know if your website stinks?

If your website doesn't provide leads, it stinks!

Maybe you don't have a website.

Ask someone you know, friend, employer...

how many leads do they get from their website?

I bet they say zero!

Even if though you may not have a website that stinks I am certain you know someone who does.

Why Do Most Websites stink?

There are many factors that make a website stink. Bad optimization, poor content, no keywords, no blog, no real-time ability to update.

So just like us last Friday, we knew it stunk, we just didn't know the stink was coming from.

Websites are really the same way.

Most people have no idea what makes their website stink or where the stink is coming from.

Have Your "Scent-ses" Gone Numb Figuring Out What Makes Your Site Stink?

As we talked about in Part 1 of this story, we literally spent hours trying to figure out what the smell was.

We couldn't tell the difference between a skunk, a gas leak, or electrical fire.

Our sense of smell was nearly numb by the time it was all over. We just wore it out and couldn't tell the difference.

Lost Your "Scent-ses"?

Are your senses telling you one thing, but your just not sure.

Does your site stink like a gas leak?

Sort of like a rotten egg...or a smelly fart...not even sure if it is gas...but what could it be?

Does your site stink like an electrical fire?

Maybe a little rubbery like a burnt up belt on a vacuum cleaner....yuck..that is a nasty smell.

Or does your site stink like a skunk?

Maybe your site has been dead for awhile and it is still giving off its smell....but you don't know where it is coming from and you can't find it.

Like the skunk at our house, we may never know where it came from...or what it did.

All we can do now is make it stink less or if we leave it alone, it will just keep on stinking.

The same goes for your website. If it produces no leads, it stinks, time to do something about it.

How can you cleanup your site so it doesn't stink?

Fortunately you don't have to go through the embarrassment of calling 911.

You do need to find where your site stinks, because others coming to visit think it stinks to.

If your website stinks, you will never get a lead.

So instead of calling the Fire Department take a look at these 5 tips to make your site not stink anymore or at least stink less:

5 Tips to Make Sure Your Website Doesn't Stink

1- Search engine optimization, make sure you are using the right keywords.

2- Don't "PUSH" your product or service to the reader. Educate your visitors instead.

3- If you don't already have a blog, get one now. If you do have one, make sure it is optimized.
