What's Missing From Your WEB CONTENT STRATEGY....

Content Marketing....it's all about what it says, not what it looks like!

Which Picture Does Google Consider a Pretty Girl?

pretty-girla photo with the wrong alt text

Did You Figure It Out?

I am sure your inclination is to think that they pretty girl is the brunette.  But actually, Google considers the funny looking dog to be the "pretty girl"

Why?

Because I told Google that the funny looking dog is the "pretty girl".  I did this by applying pretty-girl in the alt tag of the image.  This tells Google that the image is a "pretty girl".

The alt image of the "real" pretty girl is just a plain description of the image with no indication of what it is.  This is one of the most common mistakes on websites.

What's the Point?

If you have something to tell the world, then use words to describe it.  You must do it in a way that Google will pick it up.  Let's face it, if Google can't find it, No one will be able to find it.

Focus on Content Marketing....

Focus your money and efforts on what your website says.  If you don't tell Google what you are about, then it will pass you by or even consider you to be "ugly" when you really are "pretty". While it is important to have a good looking website, with a tight budget, you will get much more out of building content than you will out of spending time and money on design.

"But, I hate Writing!"

Most people do hate writing, or, they might like to write but find it difficult to write for themselves (...I struggle with this...).  Everone is focused on selling you a website design, the concept of a website, instead of focusing on what really brings traffic to your site, the content.

That's because  no one really likes to focus on the content, it is hard work.
